iPhone 14 Case Leak Indicates A New Max Model

Every fall, a new generation of Apple phones always arrives as promised, and this year is no exception. The iPhone 14 is expected to debut in the usual September launch window, alongside the Apple Watch Series 8. So, which models are included? Dose the product live up to our expectations?

There have been quite a few rumors about its models this year. On July 28, 2022, an image of the iPhone 14 case was leaked that appeared to confirm the previous rumors about the device. DuanRui first shared the image on Twitter. Previously, there has been murmuring that there will be the iPhone 14 "Plus" not "Max", and this image also uses the label "Plus". However, as more and more rumors circulated, the "Plus" statement was overwhelmed by the "Max". Although it isn't possible to verify if these are accurate iPhone 14 case models, they line up perfectly with everything we've heard about the device so far.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, in the iPhone 14 range, we'll reportedly see the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro come with a 6.1-inch display, and possible iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch display. Meanwhile, according to reports, Apple is planning to focus on larger iPhone sizes for its flagship devices going forward, so the iPhone 14 will see the end of the iPhone "mini" in favor of a new "Max-sized" regular iPhone.

In addition to the absence of 5.4-inch mini models, what are the differences between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 series? Actually, there are a number of notable differences between these two series. In particular, some features of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max deserve our attention:

What Does the iPhone 14 Look Like?

The Titanium Alloy Chassis Design

The upcoming iPhone 14 models are expected to come with a high-end titanium alloy chassis design, according to an investor's report from JP Morgan Chase. Apple has used titanium for the Apple Watch, but the iPhone 14 would mark the first time to use this material for an iPhone.

Titanium, a mixture of titanium and other chemical elements, is more scratch resistant and stronger than both steel and aluminum; plus, it is more corrosion resistant.

The Notchless Infinity Design

This could be one of the most delightful news. Since 2017, the iPhone X with Face ID has had a notch at the front to house all the necessary equipment for facial scanning, but that's set to change with the launch of the iPhone 14.

The iPhone 14 Pro models are expected to eliminate the notch in favor of a new design, which will incorporate both a pill-shaped cutout and a circular cutout. The circular cutout will likely house the Face ID dot projector, and the pill-shaped cutout will include the front camera, Face ID infrared camera, and possibly other components.

The Bigger and Wider Camera Bump

New iPhones always include camera improvements, and the iPhone 14 is no exception. All 2022 iPhones could see improvements to the Ultra Wide camera, and reportedly, Apple will significantly improve the wide-angle camera and update the telephoto lens on the iPhone 14 Pro models. The iPhone Pro models are expected to get 48-megapixel cameras, a big jump from the 12- megapixel camera on the iPhone 13, and 8K video recording capabilities. The standard iPhone 14 models will not see many design changes.

The higher-resolution camera sensor will lead to a bigger camera bump. Therefore, the iPhone 13 case will no longer be suitable for the iPhone 14. Please don't hesitate to purchase a new case for your new iPhone.

As for the front camera technology, all the iPhone 14 models coming this year are expected to feature an upgraded front lens with a wider f/1.9 aperture and autofocus capabilities. A wider aperture would let more light pass through the lens to reach the sensor for sharper and crisper photos.

The New Processor

New iterations of the iPhone typically come with an updated A-series chip. Since the iPhone 13 was equipped with the A15 chip, the iPhone 14 will undoubtedly get the new A16 chip. According to Geekbench 5, the A15 chip in the iPhone 13 Pro is already up to 20% faster than the A14 chip in the 12 Pro, so performance should improve even more with the A16 chip in the iPhone 14 Pro.

However, Apple might deviate from the standard operating procedure this year. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, only the iPhone 14 Pro models will get a new and faster A16 chip.

Despite not getting upgraded to the new A16 chip, a report from Apple leaker ShrimpApplePro has suggested that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will still get an "overall performance boost" due to an upgraded cellular modem, 6GB of RAM, and new internal design optimizations, which could see it offering faster performance.

In a nutshell, even if the images show very little design change between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, some outstanding features are still worth expecting.
